Brownies for a Valentine |

---|---|---|
My mother gave me this recipe when I was 10
or so, learning to cook. It is the ULTIMATE
Chocolate Lover's brownie from scratch. They are quick and
easy to mix and I use them a lot for those bake
sale/room mother/church bazaar type things. Sometimes
I double the batch and bake in a 10x13 inch pan.
Grease an 8x8 inch pan. Preheat oven to 350 F. Sift flour, sugar, salt and cocoa in a 3-quart mixing bowl. Add butter, eggs, and vanilla. Using an electric mixer, beat for 2 minutes on medium speed. Stir in nuts, if desired. Turn into prepared pan and spread out to even thickness. Bake 20-22 minutes or until barely done. Mark, cool in pan on cake rack, then cut and enjoy. I sprinkle powdered sugar on top for decoration or frost if you want.
